We are off to a great school year in Cantwell. I was wishing for rain to help ensure that the kids and all of us staff would be ready to hit the books. The wish came true, as it started raining this week late Tuesday night and poured and poured and poured until early this morning. Thank you to the rain fairies for listening!
Does anyone else on occasion choose to ignore their children when they speak or am I the only one that is working on mother of the year? For weeks, I truly mean weeks, Jaydyn has been telling Justin and I that her feet, knees, legs, arms, and ears hurt. When she pulled out the story about her ears hurting because they were growing, that was the point when I truly did stop listening. Well, as I am discovering, there are some times, when it is important to listen to what the 3 footer has to say. She has grown 2 inches in 5 months and three sandal sizes later in just 1 summer, she was speaking the truth about her body hurting because it was growing. I have tucked this important note away so when JT forms an opinion, I might try to be more empathetic when he speaks about his aching, growing body. Jaydyn does enjoy reading off of the iPad to anyone who will listen. Her baby Buddy May is the lucky one to hear a bedtime story. JT thought that this book was really funny. After our 2 month visit to the doctor, Justin and I are convinced that JT doesn't miss a meal. He now weighs 13 pounds and has grown almost an inch since his birth. His opinion, I mean, his personality is really starting to develop. He gives us the 'what for' cry and squeal when he has a different idea about what he should be doing instead to sleep at a normal hour each night. Justin and I are convinced that he is also going to be an Alaska kid that thinks going to bed when the sun goes down in the summer and sleeping in late is the normal thing to do. By the way, the sun doesn't go down in the summer, so 11pm is just playtime for JT and Jaydyn both.

Justin has a bit less than a month left with his fish guiding and fall hunting adventures. He was thankful that the mail system was semi efficient in delivering his rain gear last week to help with this week's worth of mass rain. The fall colors are starting to appear, and the summer flowers are starting to whither and go to seed. We are getting excited to head to Montana to visit family and friends. Justin has been hitting the tundra here in hopes to fill our freezer with moose or caribou and looking forward to hitting the mountains for more Justin death marches in search of elk during archery season.

Well for now, we are off to pick our 'last chance' blueberries before the frost hits.
Keep smiling!
